Your visit

What to expect from your consultation

We know that visiting a heart specialist can feel daunting. Here's a straightforward guide to how a consultation with us works, from arrival through to your consultation letter.

Clinics

Where and when we see patients

Outpatient consultations run on weekday mornings and evenings at Thornbury Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, in Sheffield.

On arrival

Make your way to the main hospital reception, where you'll be directed through to the clinic. If your consultant has asked for one, our nursing staff will carry out a 12-lead ECG before you're seen.

What to bring

Please bring copies of any previous ECGs you have, along with an up-to-date list of your current medications. This helps your consultant build a full picture from the outset.

Your consultation

You'll see either Dr Kelland or Dr Kyriacou, who will take a full history, examine you, and discuss the likely causes of your symptoms and the options for investigation or treatment.

Arranging next steps

If further tests or a procedure are needed, our administrative staff and practice manager will handle the scheduling, along with any insurance procedure codes your provider requires.

Your consultation letter

A letter summarising your consultation is typed up and sent to you and your GP shortly afterwards, so there's always a clear written record of what was discussed and agreed.

On-site diagnostics

Investigations available at our clinics

Wherever possible, the diagnostic tests needed to understand your heart rhythm are available on site, so results can inform your care without unnecessary delay.
